Now For The B.S of that article:
“Even though India was a member of the British Empire, anti-Sikh and Hindu sentiment was high among many Anglo-Saxon pioneers in B.C., who feared the arrival of dark-skinned workers would lower their wages.”
The Facts: Industrialists like Robert Dunsmuir brought in "dark skinned workers" to maximize their profits.
"Part of Robert Dunsmuir’s notoriety stemmed from his business acumen, but a greater part resulted from his approach to labour relations. He believed the mines he owned were his to do with as he chose. In his mind, he alone had been responsible for raising the capital, building the collieries, opening the markets, and maintaining the plant. He had tended always to pay lower wages than his competitors, and he hid preferred to employ Orientals who were willing to work for half the pay other miners would accept."
The B.S:
"The low-water mark for Sikhs in Canada came only three years after the Gur Sikh Temple was built."
"In 1914, the Komagata Maru, containing 376 would-be Indian immigrants, was barred from landing in Vancouver harbour. To the cheers of whites standing on the B.C. shoreline, the ship's inhabitants were sent back on a grim journey to India."
The Facts: Europeans from British Columbia and from all over the Northwest had enough of the expoitation by the Industrailists and rised up in defense of there families and lively hoods and repulsed the asian invasion that was forced upon them the start of local trade unions and labour councils!!! The B.S:
"The next year a protesting Sikh man named Bhai Mewa Singh was hanged in New Westminster for shooting a white man on the steps of a B.C. courthouse. The Sikh community named him a martyr."
The Facts: W.C Hopkinson a government agent was murdered by the assasin Mewa Singh who was rightly hung for this offense. (Read more here)
The B.S:
"Although the past 15 years have been marred by clashes between Sikh fundamentalists and moderates in B.C., often relating to the continuing conflict over a separate homeland in Khalistan, Sikhs' march to full integration in Canada has forged ahead."
The Facts: Terrorist activities, beatings and murders....and this continues to this day and the forseeable future. (Read more here)
